The primary purpose of the Stellenbosch Heritage Trust is to collect, invest and manage funds for the upkeep, restoration and maintenance of the twelve historical buildings that it owns. The Stellenbosch Heritage Trust rents out the five buildings not used by the Stellenbosch Museum on commercial terms. Any annual surplus, after sufficient provision has been made for operating costs, capital spending and future contingencies, can be allocated to the Stellenbosch Museum at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.
